On Thursday, July 13, the Museum hosted its quarterly wine tasting at the Cici and Hyatt Brown Museum of Art, this month themed "The World Cup of Wine" which sold out a week prior to the event. This social event is a program based evening with a tasting of six different wines that are paired with four to six different appetizers prepared by a local caterer. Moore Fine Foods catered this event with an abundance of food that was well received by our attendees.
The theme of the wine samples, "The World Cup of Wine," featured the "All Star" wines from countries who are best known for their "All Star" soccer teams. Samples included Hummingbird Riesling from Germany, Trenel Bourgogne Blanc from France, Valdelamillo Tempranillo from Spain, I Veroni Chianti Rufina from Italy, Mairena Malbec from Argentina, and Mill Creek Cabernet Sauvignon from the United States. The most popular wine among guests proved to be the Mairena Malbeck from Argentina.
As guests sipped, swirled, and smelled the aromas of the wine, Sommelier, Sue Barry of S.R. Perrott talked everyone through how to taste different aspects of wine and how it pairs with other food assortments. Guests enjoyed pairing these wines with cheese, fruit, shrimp croissants, chicken, pasta, brisket, and key lime tartlets.
The Museum started hosting quarterly wine tasting socials over a year and a half ago and they have been sold out affairs ever since. Guests can expect a wonderful evening filled with wine, great food, and to leave with a new way of understanding wine. Save the date on your calendar for our next wine tasting on Thursday, October 12.
