Have you heard the news?! The Buzz around MOAS lately has been all about the Museum Stores! Sandi B. recently stopped by the front desk and said “That store is really amazing! You have such a wide selection; I will definitely be back for some Christmas Shopping” Thank you Sandi and we hope to see you for our sale and pre-holiday event on Sunday, December 1.
MOAS is joining a nationwide initiative called Museum Store Sunday. The goal is to raise awareness and engage our communities through the uniqueness of the Museum Store experience. The items sold in the MOAS stores, both at the main building and the store at the Cici and Hyatt Brown Museum of Art, are curated just like the works of art displayed throughout our galleries. Items are inspired by the Museums’ collections of Art, Science and History. From Africa to Cuba to space and beyond, when you shop at MOAS this season, you will find a selection of goods you cannot find anywhere else.
The new look of our Museum Stores is due in no small part to our Guest Relations Gift Shop Coordinator, Lori Hoepfinger. Lori joined the MOAS team in 2015 as a member of our Guest Relations Department, and in 2018 was promoted to Gift Shop Coordinator. Since that time, Lori has traveled and researched far and wide, learning the trends, practices and items best suited for our stores…and it shows! She has filled the shelves with the latest gifts and toys for children and adults alike! Need a hostess gift? A toy that will not only entertain but will teach your children? Unique jewelry for that special someone? Gifts for the men in your life? You can find it all at the MOAS Museum Stores and for a price that won’t disappoint.
Museum Store Sunday activities will be held at the main building from 11am – 5pm on Sunday December 1st. The event is free and open to the public, you don’t have to be a member to shop in the Museum Stores. Select items will be on display and available for purchase from the Cici and Hyatt Brown Museum Store including some of our local artisan collections; one of a kind pieces of handcrafted silver jewelry, hand painted silk scarves and fused art glass to name a few. Enjoy complementary mimosas and sample baked goods in the morning and wine and savory snacks later in the day. All guests will receive a door prize coupon for a chance to win gifts and prizes. Drawings will be held throughout the day; you do not have to be present to win. Many items will be gift bundled and offered at a savings of 10% off. Avoid the hassle and crowds at the mall and impress your friends this holiday season with a unique gift from the MOAS Museum Stores!
