The War to End All Wars: Collapse of the Frontier Attrition & WWI Graphic Arts & Personal Effects

Root Hall
Open November 10, 2018 through January 6, 2019

In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I, local artist Patricia BeBeau’s monumental collage/mixed media work will be on display. It depicts WWI Allied and German airstrikes on the day before the Armistice of November 11, 1918 that ended the long war of attrition in the Belgian trenches as well as on the sea and the air. A Modernist version of a one-hundred-year-old-event, this piece reminds us that “The War to End All Wars” did not, unfortunately, live up to its name and war in any time and place is a tragedy to be avoided if possible.
